Another season is over and gone! We had a fun autumn with usual routines and some new adventures. I feel like it was all a blur, to be honest, but hopefully I can remember most of what we did…
We have started (re-started, really) our overview of American history. Our spine is from Gather ‘Round Homeschool. We don’t usually utilize the student workbooks, but I like to use the teacher’s guide and book lists for a bit of direction. So far, we’ve studied through the Westward Expansion. I think the kids really enjoyed learning about the Oregon Trail because it started very near to where we live.
In October we went on our first family camping trip at a Missouri state park. It was toward the end of camping season, so there wasn’t a lot to do, but we enjoyed a little hiking, skipping rocks at the lake and relaxing around the campfire.
Other family learning adventures and activities include park hopping, visiting nature centers, studying trees and leaves, visiting my parents’ farm, learning about Norman Rockwell and reading plenty of good books.
We have had a good fall and are looking forward to another season of learning together!
