In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Sunday is the core of our civilization, dedicated to thought and reverence.” For many families, it seems more like a day of hurry and stress. However, with a little bit of thinking ahead, our Sundays can become more peaceful.
A few things I do for a simple Sunday…
1. Make a big breakfast on Saturday and eat the leftovers the next morning – This is especially handy when you have several children and yourself to get ready and out the door in time for church. Some of our favorites breakfasts for this are sausage/bacon & pancakes/waffle or oatmeal.
2. Eat get a good amount of protein in the morning – This helps with blood sugar related behavior and attitude issues, which is especially important for my family on Sundays when we have to wait a little longer than usual for lunch.
3. Establish a few routines/rituals to allow you to rest from making so many decisions. – This will give you a break from making decisions all day long. For example, you could eat the same thing for lunch or dinner every Sunday and engage in the same family activities. We like to eat pizza and watch television together every Sunday evening.
While you can certainly use these tips to simplify any day of the week, I find them especially helpful on Sundays! 😊
